The school psychologist performs psychological testing and evaluations to assist in educational planning and to help determine eligibility for special education services. Testing is aimed at better understanding a student's needs in the areas of learning and social/emotional functioning. Standardized and protective measures are administered in order to gain a profile of a student's functioning in areas such as intelligence, motivation, perception, memory, learning style, attention, behavior and emotional functioning.
The School Psychologist provides individual and group supportive counseling to students who have been identified with special needs. Ongoing consultation with teachers, families and outside professionals involved with the student is additionally provided.
The School Psychologist also provides crisis intervention services and chairs the high school's crisis intervention planning team.
