Aberjona Yearbook
This is a group of students who plan, design, and produce the WHS yearbook. It's hard work, but it is definitely worth it.
Art Club
If you are interested in expanding your art talents, this is the perfect place to be after school. Instruction is provided and time is allotted for project completion. This is a great club for students who enjoy art but may be unable to schedule it as a course.
Asian-American Student Organization
The purpose of this club is to bring together the student population of Asian-American students, and to introduce and educate other students about the culture and language in various parts of Asia through appealing activities. Cultural activities will include: celebrating holidays, cooking traditional recipes, learning traditional games, and exploring music, dance and art.
Band Front/ Flag Corps
This club provides an opportunity for all students, with or without experience, to learn how to twirl a flag or a rifle and to participate with the marching band at the football games and parades.
Chess, Go, and Shogi
The Chess, Go and Shogi club is a board game playing club. It provides a friendly, quite place to meet with friends and play board games. In learning these games, one develops their logical reasoning and ability to think ahead.
Connect and Commit
The community service club at the High School is the largest club at the school. It coordinates many community service opportunities over the year and holds such notable events as: The Ragin’ Cajun Dinner, Youth Service Day (in partnership with the Youth Center) and an annual blood drive.
Curtain and Cue
WHS Drama club involving students in performance and behind the scenes preparation for a fall play.
Environmental Club
The Environmental Club is designed around spreading awareness about the environment. The club is focused on making the world a better place to live in, as well as informing students about cleaner sources of energy.
Film Club
The Film Club at WHS is a new and exciting opportunity for students from all grade levels to watch, critique, analyze and actively participate in the production of various types of film.
Girls Frisbee Team
The Frisbee team creates a relaxed environment in which girls can learn or perfect their Frisbee skills. In the spring, the team plays against other girls teams located close by. All girls interested are welcome to play.
Harvard Model UN
This club will take you to Harvard University where you will participate in a simulation of the United Nations. You will be assigned a country to research and then you will spend a weekend sharing your observations with other students from across the nation. This is a fantastic way to pursue your interests in world affairs.
Juggling Club
The Juggling Club is a way for the students of Winchester High School to learn to juggle, as well as further increase their juggling ability. The club meets once a week, and performs at several events throughout the year.
Junior Statesmen of America
JSA is a nationwide program to promote political awareness among students and to make students more involved citizens. Students will be involved through debates and mock trials.
Literary Magazine
Students work with an Advisor to produce a magazine fostering creative expression and an appreciation for literary and visual arts.
Marching Band
An opportunity for musicians to actively participate in parades and perform at football games.
Math Team
Math Club provides an opportunity for students to engage in math competitions with other students from WHS and other high schools.
Mixed Martial Arts Club
Winchester Mixed Martial Arts is a program at the Winchester High School created for participants to learn, study, and teach all facets of the dynamically evolving sport of Martial Arts. As a program for those who study Martial Arts, studied Martial Arts, or are interested in learning Martial Arts, participants will always discover a multitude of new techniques to learn and master from striking arts emphasizing kicks and punches to grappling arts that accentuate joint locks, pressure points, and throws. Winchester Mixed Martial Arts meets in the Fall and Spring on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM in the WHS Wrestling Room. The facutly advisers are: David Benedetto, Peter Franciosi, and Gerry Skinder.
Multicultural Issues Group (MCI)
MCI is designed to explore issues surrounding race, culture, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and class in an informal yet informative setting. Topics are generally introduced and discussions are usually led by high school students. In addition to monthly meetings, MCI also attends workshops, lectures, films and cultural events throughout the year. Meetings are open to all students at any point throughout the year.
Musical
This musical performance involves a large number of students who love music, acting and performing. Opportunities are also available to do “behind the scenes” work.
National Honor Society
NHS provides a vehicle for recognizing students of outstanding scholarship, character, service, and leadership in both their school and community. Members must meet eligibility requirements.
Outdoors Club
Outdoor expeditions and outdoor education are the focus of all events. Activities range from hiking, canoeing, or biking to listening to speakers or viewing films on the outdoors.
Photography Club
This club provides time and instruction for those students unable to schedule photography during the school day and for those students who are taking photography but want extra help and time in the darkroom.
Red and Black
This is WHS’s very own school newspaper. Students write every article printed and it is published monthly. Students report news and express their opinions and concerns on just about everything. This is a good experience for those who are interested in journalism and advertising or who just want to speak out.
Sachem Lifting Club
The purpose of Sachem Lifting Club is to keep all sports players in peak physical condition. The club meets in the Gymnasium to stretch out and them progresses to the football weight room. The club will further improve the success of the Winchester Football Team and other sports as well.
S.O.S/S.A.D.D: Students Offering Support/Students Against Destructive Decisions
This is a combined club that meets twice a month and develops programs that help students at WHS cope in a positive manner with stressful, emotional issues. The club presents a yearly depression workshop to freshmen and at least one other program that might deal with such issues as stress, substance abuse, eating disorders or sexual health.
Spectrum
This is the gay/straight alliance group. This club is a place where students can explore and discuss diversity. Through these discussions students support each other and spread knowledge to others in the community. This is a wonderful place to be able to hang out and just talk!
Stampede
A step dance squad that performs throughout the WHS community.
Student Council
The Student Council is a group of dedicated students that helps to organize school activities, elections, service projects and community events. Membership is by application/appointment. Potential members should be interested in serving their school and community and representing their fellow students as their voice in school policy.
Theater Light and Sound Crew
Students learn how to maintain and use the light and sound systems for stage productions at WHS. Assistance is also provided for school and town groups that are using the auditorium for their productions.
