Grants

The Winchester Foundation for Educational Excellence has funded many teacher initiated projects in town. Examples of McCall's sponsored activities include:

·         Implementing Facing History & Ourselves in Grade 8

·         Investigating Ground Water for Science in Grade 8

·         Funding of a storyteller to an interdisciplinary unit in Grade 7

·         Massachusetts Book Award with students in Grade 6

Computers

The McCall Middle School utilizes Dell computers located in two computer labs and the library. McCall also has 30 laptops available for classroom use. In addition, the McCall provides access to the Time Almanac, World Book Encyclopedia, and other sources. Besides a local area network (LAN), McCall is on-line with six other schools, the Central Office, the Massachusetts Corporation for Educational Telecommunications (MCET) and the Internet.

Community Service

Students, teachers, parents and the community work cooperatively to develop programs that serve the community. In addition, the McCall faculty has formed a school and community service committee to identify worthwhile projects. Some examples of these activities are Woburn Council of Social Concern Food Drive, Globe Santa Drive for Pine Street Inn, Swim for Sight, Fundraiser for Needy Families, and Anti-Tobacco Activities. At McCall this year there is a Community Service Club under the direction of Elanie Higgins.
